Parasitology, Health and Development
Section for Parasitology, Health and Develoment is a merger of DCEP - Danish Centre for Experimental Parasitology and DBL-Centre for Health Research and Development (PSU). We work with human and animal health from an integral, cross-disciplinary and inter-sectoral starting point in a national as well as international perspective.
PSU collaborates with a number of universities and institutions on research, education, capacity building, knowledge management and research based service provision in the South and in the North.
Research
PSU apply conventional as well as new biotech methods both in the laboratories and in the field in our work with diagnostics, pathogenesis and regulatory mechanisms for infection and disease.
The section does research in determinants of human and animal health in a biophysical, social, economic and cultural context, and in interventions and health systems.
Education
PSU place great emphasis on the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. education and the section is responsible for the parasitology teaching to veterinary students and for the special Masters in Parasitology. We support individual M.Sc.-students from the South studying with the section as part of our global network.
The Ph.D. programme is a vital part of out activities, and the section support individual Ph.D. students from the South as part of institutional capacity building in disease prevention and control.
Knowledge Management
PSU turn research into practice to close the so-called”Know-Do”-gap. Facilitation of networks and development of strategies are components of this effort.
